Getting Ready to Study
1. Have a regular study time
- Allot time daily to revision and learning.
- Studying for short periods daily will be of more benefit to you than studying for hours on the weekend.
- Keep it short to begin with; even 30 minutes will be helpful.
2. Minimise distractions
- Turn off the television.
- Avoid making and taking telephone calls. Ask your parents to take the messages.
- Put aside the electronic devices, especially the ones with social media.
- Study in a quiet area, for example, in your bedroom.
- Brothers and sisters may be distracting at times. If so, ask your parents to assist you in maintaining a quiet atmosphere suitable for studying.
3. Be organised
- Set up a desk or table in your quiet area where you can keep your books and stationery.
- Make sure you have all the books, pens and pencils you need at hand, including your dictionary and thesaurus.
- Colour-coding copybooks and using page markers are a handy way of locating books and current work quickly and easily.
